A Contemporary Loft within the Historic Bel Air Residence
Architecture Collection • Dassault Collection • 74110 Montriond • French Alps
✦ WELCOME TO BEL AIR ✦
Some buildings simply stand the test of time.
Others become part of the history of an entire village.
Standing proudly in the heart of Montriond for more than a century, the
Bel Air Residence has witnessed generations of villagers, travellers, artists and mountain lovers.
Throughout its remarkable history, it has successively been a family residence, a lively meeting place, a café, a holiday camp welcoming hundreds of Parisian children discovering the Alps for the very first time, before becoming the unique architectural destination it is today.
Rather than replacing its history, every restoration carried out at Bel Air has sought to preserve it.
The original proportions of the building, its generous volumes and its distinctive architectural identity have all been carefully respected, allowing the soul of the property to remain visible while embracing contemporary comfort and design.
Today, Bel Air is no longer a single residence.
It has become a living collection of independent spaces, artistic concepts and unique holiday homes, each imagined around its own architectural identity while sharing the same remarkable heritage.
Every apartment tells a different story.
Every corridor reveals another chapter.
Every stay becomes part of Bel Air's continuing history.
✦ THE DASSAULT COLLECTION ✦
Within Bel Air, one entire section of the residence has been dedicated to one of France's greatest industrial adventures.
Welcome to the
Dassault Collection.
Inspired by the legendary aircraft imagined by
Dassault Aviation, this collection reinterprets the spirit of French aeronautical engineering through architecture, colour and design.
Four lofts...
Four personalities...
One common inspiration.
Mirage
Mystère
Falcon
Balzac
Rather than reproducing aircraft interiors, each apartment translates the values that made Dassault famous throughout the world:
• innovation
• precision
• elegance
• technical excellence
• timeless French design
The result is an architectural journey where engineering becomes emotion and where every detail contributes to a coherent artistic universe.
✦ MIRAGE ✦
Perched beneath the roof structure of Bel Air,
Mirage occupies nearly 90 m² arranged over two carefully designed levels.
This charming duplex was imagined as a dialogue between heritage and modernity.
Rather than transforming the historic building beyond recognition, the project embraced its existing character, allowing old and new to coexist naturally.
Original architectural lines were preserved.
Historic volumes were respected.
Natural light became one of the principal materials of the renovation.
Every intervention was designed not to erase the past, but to reveal it.
The result is an elegant contemporary loft that proudly celebrates the history of the building while offering the comfort, openness and refinement expected from a modern mountain retreat.
✦ WHERE MODERNISM MEETS THE ALPS ✦
Mirage is one of the signature residences of our exclusive
Architecture Collection.
Its interior explores the fascinating encounter between the expressive forms of
New Brutalism, the timeless purity of
Modernism and the creative optimism that characterised the architectural movements of the 1960s.
The renovation deliberately departs from the traditional Alpine chalet aesthetic.
Instead of carved timber and mountain folklore, the loft embraces bold geometries, generous open spaces, carefully balanced proportions and an exceptional relationship with natural light.
Throughout the day, sunlight constantly transforms the atmosphere.
Large roof windows frame the surrounding mountains like living paintings while shadows slowly redraw the interior architecture from morning until night.
Far more than decoration, architecture itself becomes the principal experience.
✦ PIET MONDRIAN IN THE FRENCH ALPS ✦
The artistic identity of Mirage is largely inspired by one of the twentieth century's greatest pioneers of abstraction:
Piet Mondrian.
His iconic compositions, built from primary colours, black lines and perfect geometric balance, inspired an interior where colour itself becomes an architectural material.
Walls guide the eye.
Volumes create rhythm.
Light completes the composition.
This artistic language naturally echoes the legendary
Mondrian Collection created by
Yves Saint Laurent in 1965, one of the defining masterpieces of French Haute Couture.
Like the famous dresses that transformed paintings into fashion, Mirage transforms modern art into architecture.
More than simply staying in a holiday apartment, Mirage invites you to discover a place where aviation, architecture, contemporary art, fashion and Alpine heritage merge into one unique experience.
Every detail has been imagined to celebrate the remarkable history of Bel Air while opening a new chapter for those who choose to stay here.
